Artists and community members presented short acts that ranged from music to drag performances, puppetry, contortionists and experimental theatre. The format encouraged audience members to loosen up as we invited participants to share talents that might not fit within traditional art spaces. We put out an open call and were overwhelmed by the demand. More and more as a collective, we like to push the boundary of what is art. Giving platform to all disciplines of art to showcase how wide the range of what "art" is.

The show highlighted the wide spectrum of creativity within the Tendermesh community. We created a welcoming atmosphere where vulnerability and humor coexisted. The variety show format broke down barriers between artist and audience, emphasizing participation, joy, and collective celebration.

We created The Swamp’s Got Talent to celebrate community talent and to remind ourselves that art can be playful and surprising.

Variety Show

The variety show emerged from a desire to make space for experimentation and laughter within the Tendermesh program. Not every creative idea fits into a formal exhibition or scheduled performance, so this format opened the door for spontaneity. The event reinforced Tendermesh’s commitment to accessibility, collaboration, and the celebration of creative risk.
