‘Knospen und Beton’ (Buds and Concrete) was a two-week multidisciplinary art exhibition at Erster Erster in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg.

‘Knospen und Beton’ featured works by 12 visual artists living in Berlin, most of whom are from Germany. The overarching theme was the contrast between hardness and softness. The space was brought to life throughout the week by workshops held by the participating artists. On the weekends, the public was able to enjoy a varied programme, including a performance with violin and dance, a fashion show, a poetry reading and other interdisciplinary formats. Each evening, a new audience was reached, which experienced and interpreted the exhibition in new ways.

Not only did we host different types of events on the weekends, but also workshops during the week. The gallery space became not only a space to view art, but also a space to participate in art-making. We had two different workshops each week. This allowed young and old bodies to come in to the space and learn certain skillsets from the artists that were on display.
